Went out with my camera this morning, curious to see what birds I could photograph in an hour, without leaving the garden – a few of the resulting images are displayed below.
I also spotted about 30 other species that I did not have the chance of photographing.
Have asked father Christmas for an 800 […]
For two days, all the staff helped me with the preparation of nearly thirty kilos of carrot chutney, for the coming season. Just the peeling and chopping of all the ingredients took seven of us nearly four hours. Twenty kilos of carrots, six kilos of tomatoes, six kilos of onions, a kilo of garlic, […]
Our second day at Basunti and it’s 8.30am, a temperate mist hangs over the garden but the stretch of mountains to the North are clear and crisp. The birds are washing themselves enthusiastically in the baths and Sumna pads across the veranda with warm chapatti’s and omelets for breakfast. It’s already 23 degrees when […]
I had the very great privilege of spotting what I first thought was a very large pair of Geese flying over Basunti. Something did not seem quite right, as the necks were to long and they seemed to be bigger than any Geese that I had seen before. Forgot about this sighting for a […]
Decided to harvest the two beds of Chillies in the garden, as the evenings are starting to get quite cool and it is a good time to cut the plants back before mulching them in for the winter. Had a really good crop this year, with over six Kilos of Red Chillies and about […]
Just another sunny November day at Basunti – Poinsettia and Bougainvillea coming into full bloom and Black Redstart, Great Tit, Oriental White-eye and Himalayan Bulbul taking a bath.

This is the time the Mango starts ripening and […]
Having noticed over the past few weeks a distinct reduction in the number of Golden Mahseer in this part of the Maharana Pratap waters, we have decided that from now on all Mahseer will be on a strict CPR (Catch, Photograph and Release) basis at Basunti.
This decision made, we decided to spend the […]
The retreat at Basunti was even better than dreamed or imagined. It was a larger, three dimensional and vibrant version of the pictures on the Basunti website – a walk-in photo shoot with all senses awakened.
It felt that the yoga was restorative with ancient techniques practiced in the land of their origin. Certainly […]
The last yoga group of the spring season departed on the 15th April, hopefully everyone left feeling happy, relaxed and well fed.
After contemplating my four and a half coming months of total freedom, decided to spend the first few days in the garden giving everything a much needed watering. Also started preparing all […]
