The Rangpurs, known locally as Ghumerees, are all beginning to ripen. It is a cross between an orange and a lemon. Looks like an orange, peels like an orange, segments like an orange, but tastes more like a slightly less tangy lemon.

The way the locals eat it is to make a paste of sugar, salt and coriander with a mortar and pestle, then dip the segments in this masala, very, very, tasty. I limit myself to one a day, as the benefits of all that vitamin C is slightly offset by the quantities of sugar and salt.

Plan on making a jam based on the local way of eating it, but using coriander seeds instead of fresh and adding some hot chillies.
